22 Amazing Ukiyo-e Artists
57 selected works from the collection of the Osaka UKIYOE Museum will be on show! This special exhibition showcases the finest ukiyo-e artists who have shaped the art form over the centuries, featuring masters whose works continue to captivate audiences worldwide.
Featured Masters
The enigmatic painter Toshusai Sharaku, who painted deformed Yakusha-e (actor pictures) and disappeared without a trace after only ten months of activity. Katsushika Hokusai, a genius artist who influenced not only Japan but also the world. They and 22 other fine Ukiyo-e artists have their works on display.
Special Highlights
In addition to the renowned masters, 16 works on display for the first time at the museum are a must-see! Visitors can take a closer look at ukiyo-e with magnifying glasses, which can be borrowed free of charge to appreciate the intricate details and craftsmanship of these masterworks.
Permanent Feature
“The Great Wave off Kanagawa”, from the series Thirty-six Views of Mt. Fuji by Katsushika Hokusai is on permanent exhibition alongside the special exhibition works.
